What you get here isn't bad though. Because of that, I have alwasys been hesitant about going with one of their non-US guitars, such as this one. I have always been a fan of Gibson, way back before they moved their main factory to Nashville and started doing a lot of their manufacturing overseas. It's just not as good as a Gibson. Call me skeptical. The price was right, so I took a chance on the Epiphone Les Paul. Was shocked at how good the quality and sound was. Those who have played ths standard, Gibson Les Pauls will probably notice a few differences, like the lower-quality wood, electronics, and hardware. But you're saving about $2000 though, so I think it's a fair trade.A good sounding guitar. Good for a beginner/intermediate player who wants a "real" Les Paul.
This guitar is pretty cool. No matter what I do I can not eliminate "fret buzz". Other than that the guitar is an amazing buy and so far no one has experienced any problems that cannot be fixed quite easily. Shipping was amazing. Even paying 25-30 bucks to get the frets filed will still keep me way under the price range of a Gibson. So far, even with the fret buzz, the sound is very ballsy and has the Gibson sound. I ordered the guitar on Saturday and it arrived Tuesday. However, The looks and amazing shipping service are only a small portion. The finish is absolutely beautiful and It really has the feel of a real Les Paul. It seems as If I will have to take it to a shop and get the frets filed down some.
I have been doing some reading of others reveiws and it seems as if a few people have encountered small problems with their Eipihone Les Paul models. Mine also had one. Its really a no-brainier. Could be better but Its still very nice.Bottom line is this is your guitar if you love the feel of the Gibson Les Paul body style but don't want to put out $3000.
I ordered it on Sunday night arrived Wednesday playable right out of the box. While the bridge/treble pickup provides a bright perfect tone. Now while I can't say that this is just as good as a Gibson its close enough. I swear it looks three times as good as it does in the picture. So I swapped them out for a new set haven't had a problem since.Overall If your looking for a cheap alternative to a $2000-3000 Gibson Les Paul without sacrificing sound or durability this is by far your best bet. LooksIts truly beautiful not as detailed as Gibson but who cares. On a clean channel the neck/rhythm pickup provides a nice thick rich warm bluesy tone with sustain that seems to last forever.
Durability The guitar it self is very well made and can take quite a beating. Bought this guitar from American Musical Supply for $319.99 (with free shipping) and for the price it is not bad at all. When mixed with my Big Muff Pi & Boss DS-2 Turbo Distortion pedals (both are a great buy) it provides deep smooth rhythms and ear scorching leads. I got the ebony with chrome hardware the picture does not do this guitar justice. Sound For a guitar of this price the pickups are great. My only gripe so far is it goes out of tune with the original strings. If something ever happened to it without a thought I'd replace it in a second.
But I got mine from a store, so I think you should go and try some out. This guitar is the best guitar ever. It feels, soundS and looks like a real les paul. I would definately buy this guitar if I were you. I LOVE THIS GUITAR. It is a great investment.
I played it for 12 hours straight after I got it, plus a ton during the rest of the week and it hardly went out of tune. It is a sweet guitar. I got mine for around $400 and it is sweet. I have played a lot of real les pauls and other guitars and this is the best. I even have my own little Squire Strat which is a good guitar, but I think this is the best guitar on earth. It has great sound and sustain and as someone said in one review for another guitar, I have to look down to make sure it is me playing it because it sounds so good.
IT ROCKS AND IS THE BEST.
not bad def for the price. the action is great it can be a bit muddy but all in all a clean sound with a clasic look i would have to say you should def buy one
